Ethos FR is a light colored, multi-functional fuel reformulator. It is designed for use with all liquid fuels to increase power and mileage, dissolve gums and varnishes, lubricate upper cylinder components, and keep the entire fuel system clean and highly lubricated. It is recommended for use at 1 part in 1280, which is equal to 1 fluid ounce of Ethos FR per 10 gallons of fuel.
About Ethos FR and Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel (ULSDF)
By January 1, 2007, all over-the-road, diesel-powered vehicles will be required to use an ULSDF that complies with the EPA's mandate of less than 15 ppm (parts per million) sulfur. While this is good for the environment, not only are fleet operating expenses likely to increase, there will be negative affects on engine performance if not corrected for.
Removing sulfur from diesel fuel reduces the fuel's lubricity, which is necessary to maintain sufficiently lubricated injectors. Preliminary data suggests that the reduction in lubricity causes injector plugging problems. Ethos FR solves this lubricity problem. The synthetic esters in Ethos Fr add lubricity back into the fuel.
Reducing the sulfur content in diesel fuel also causes the fuel to burn faster which, in turn, will reduce the number of miles per gallon. While there is not enough current data to determine how significant a reduction it will cause, some fleets are experiencing as much as a 5 - 10% reduction in fuel mileage. Instead, Ethos FR actually increases fuel mileage when used with either low sulfur or high sulfur diesel fuel.
